Erin McInerney is a qualitative sociolinguist based in Strasbourg, France. She received her PhD from the University of Strasbourg in cooperation with the University of Glasgow in September 2024. Her current work on Instagram in France discusses the contrary forces at work between a new, “Instagrammable” commodification of Parisian femininity and the linguistic hegemony attached to cultural and gendered mythologies about Paris and Parisians.
As a researcher who engages regularly with dynamic visual content, Erin is an advocate for revitalizing how data is presented in academic settings. Her interest in design and Linguistic Landscape has been fostered significantly through her work at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture in Strasbourg, France, where she served as Head of Languages from 2020-2024.
